Operating between November and March, this journey takes you deep into the frozen landscapes of Kinnaur and Spiti Valley when temperatures drop below –20°C.

Starting from Shimla, the winter road trip passes through Kalpa, Nako, Tabo and Dhankar before reaching Kaza, the heart of Spiti. Witness the magical sight of snow-covered villages, frozen rivers, and dramatic mountain landscapes blanketed in white.

Visit iconic landmarks including the frozen Nako Lake, the mysterious Mummy of Gue, ancient monasteries like Tabo Monastery and Key Monastery, and enjoy a snow hike to the breathtaking Dhankar Lake. Explore high altitude villages such as Hikkim, Komic, Langza and Kibber while experiencing authentic winter life in Spiti.

Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrival Shimla | Drive to Kalpa

Arrival at Shimla by Luxury Volvo Coach / Toy Train and meet our driver.
Begin Spiti Valley Winter Tour via Hindustan Tibet Road (NH-5).
Drive through Fagu, Theog, Matiana, Narkanda and Rampur.
Enjoy scenic Himalayan villages and mountain views enroute.
Arrive Kalpa by evening (2,960 metres).
Witness stunning views of Mt. Kinner Kailash.
Optional arrangements available from Delhi / Chandigarh with Volvo or train.
Overnight stay in Kalpa

Day 2 : Kalpa to Tabo via Nako

After breakfast, drive towards Tabo (170 kms / approx. 8 hrs).
Drive through Puh and Upper Kinnaur valley.
Visit Nako village and frozen Nako Lake.
Enjoy lunch break at Nako.
Enter Spiti Valley – the land between Tibet and Ladakh.
Visit Gue village to see the 600-year-old mummy of Sangha Tenzin (subject to conditions).
Arrive Tabo and check-in at local homestay.

Day 3 : Tabo to Kaza via Dhankar & Pin Valley

After breakfast, visit Tabo Monastery (founded in 996 A.D.).
Explore ancient murals, chapels and clay sculptures.

Continue to Pin Valley and visit Kungri Monastery.
Explore Pin National Park region known for rare wildlife.
Arrive Kaza and check-in at homestay.

Day 4 : Kaza, Key Monastery & Kibber

After breakfast, proceed for sightseeing around Kaza.
Visit Key Monastery, the largest monastery in Spiti.

Drive to Kibber village in Kibber Wildlife Sanctuary.
Spot Himalayan wildlife like blue sheep and ibex.
Optional short snow trek around Kibber.
Return to Kaza by evening.

Day 5 : Kaza, Hikkim, Komic & Langza

After breakfast, drive to Hikkim village.
Visit the world’s highest post office.
Continue to Komic, the highest motorable village.

Drive to Langza village and visit Buddha statue.
Explore fossil-rich region and scenic landscapes.
Return to Kaza by evening.

Day 6 : Kaza to Rampur

After early breakfast, check-out and begin return journey.
Drive via Tabo, Nako, Puh and Tapri.

Arrive Rampur by evening and check-in at hotel.

Day 7 : Rampur to Shimla Drop

After breakfast, check-out and drive to Shimla.
Enjoy scenic drive via Narkanda.
Optional visit to Mall Road if time permits.
Transfer to Bus Stand / Railway Station in Shimla.
Board Volvo / train for onward journey.
Optional ticket arrangements available at extra cost.
